Impact on the Environment
This substance is harmful to the environment. Special attention should be paid to the pollution of surface water, soil, atmosphere and drinking water, which can be biodegraded in the environment.
Health Hazards
Invasion route: inhalation and ingestion.
Health hazards: mainly anesthesia and mild irritation. It can cause irritation of eyes and respiratory tract. In severe cases, there are anesthetic symptoms and even loss of consciousness.
Chronic Effects: mild irritation of eyes and respiratory tract. Mild dermatitis may occur after long-term skin contact.
Toxicological data and environmental behavior
Acute toxicity: lc501000mg / m3 (inhalation in mice)
Hazard characteristics: extremely flammable, and its vapor and air can form explosive mixture. In case of open fire and high heat, it is very easy to burn and explode. It can react strongly with oxidant and even cause combustion. Its vapor is heavier than air and can diffuse to a considerable distance at a lower place. It will ignite in case of open fire. In case of high heat, the internal pressure of the container increases, and there is a risk of cracking and explosion.
Combustion (decomposition) products: carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide.
Laboratory Monitoring
For gas chromatography, refer to manual of Analytical Chemistry (Volume IV, chromatographic analysis), chemical industry press
Environmental Standards
The maximum allowable concentration of harmful substances in the air of workshops in the former Soviet Union is 300mg / m3
Emergency Management
Leakage Emergency Treatment
Quickly evacuate the personnel in the leakage contaminated area to the safe area, isolate them and strictly restrict their access. Cut off the fire source. It is recommended that emergency treatment personnel wear self-contained positive pressure respirator and fire protective clothing. Cut off the source of leakage as much as possible. Prevent entry into restricted spaces such as sewers and flood drainage ditches. Small leakage: absorb with activated carbon or other inert materials. It can also be washed with emulsion made of non combustible dispersant and diluted with lotion to put into the waste water system. Massive leakage: build a dike or dig a pit to receive; Cover with foam to reduce steam damage. Transfer to tank car or special collector with explosion-proof pump, recycle or transport to waste treatment site for disposal.
Protective Measures
Respiratory protection: generally, special protection is not required, but it is recommended to wear self-priming filter gas mask (half mask) under special circumstances.
Eye protection: wear chemical safety glasses when necessary.
Body protection: wear anti-static work clothes.
Hand protection: wear benzene and oil resistant gloves.
Others: smoking is strictly prohibited at the work site. Avoid long-term repeated contact
First Aid Measures
Skin contact: take off the contaminated clothes and wash the skin thoroughly with soapy water and clear water.
Eye contact: lift the eyelids and rinse with flowing water or normal saline. See a doctor.
Inhalation: quickly leave the site to a place with fresh air. Keep the respiratory tract unobstructed. If breathing is difficult, give oxygen. If breathing stops, perform artificial respiration immediately. See a doctor.
Ingestion: drink enough warm water, induce vomiting and seek medical advice.
Fire extinguishing method: spray water to cool the container, and move the container from the fire site to an open place if possible. If the container in the fire site has changed color or generated sound from the safety pressure relief device, it must be evacuated immediately. Fire extinguishing agents: foam, dry powder, carbon dioxide and sand. Extinguishing with water is ineffective.
